Computer and computer technology are integral part of our lives. The demand for digital tools and application of digital technology across most sectors and domains is very high. Individuals that will be able to combine creativity and design skills with the ability to develop dependable and supportable software will be in high demand.Computer Science and Design is a new area of research where we use computational tools to gather data, filter them and create knowledge from them to support professional endeavours.The course of Computer Science and Design Engineering (CSD) has been designed to produce graduates that have knowledge not only about computing approaches, tools, and technologies, but also about design approaches and new media technologies and applications. Computer Science and Design (CSD) mixes core design courses with a strong programming foundation. Thus, students will be prepared to work in the IT industry as well as the digital media industry.



At Alard, Computer Science and Design aims to provide a holistic career program to make students skilled in the latest design technologies to transform future generations.

The program aims to develop capabilities in CS as well as Design and Digital Media. At the end of the program, a student will have:

1. Understanding of foundations, limits, and capabilities of computing.

2. Ability to design and implement efficient software solutions using suitable algorithms, data structures, and other computing techniques.

3. Understanding of design principles and techniques and ability to apply these for developing solutions to human/societal problems.

4. Ability to independently investigate a problem which can be solved by an Human Computer Interaction (HCI) design process and then design an end-to-end solution to it (i.e., from user need identification to UI design to technical coding and evaluation).

5. Ability to effectively use suitable tools and platforms, as well as enhance them, to develop applications/products using for new media design in areas like animation, gaming, virtual reality, etc.


The Relevance of the Course

In today's world, Computer Science and Design are in high demand all around the world. Students will be able to create innovative solutions in areas including animation, AI-powered games, virtual reality, and augmented reality, among others. Design talents can be applied to solve real-time difficulties using Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and improving product visualisation.

In domains such as multimedia, animation, virtual reality, gaming, and others, modern tools and platforms are used and enhanced to produce applications/products for new media design. Programming Languages, Software Development, Website Construction, Image Processing, Spatial Computing, Media Computing, Animation and Graphics, Game Design and Development, Fundamentals of Video and Photography for Engineers, 2D and 3D Animation are some of the primary subjects taught in this course.
